Celebrating
200 Years of
American Rail
in 2027

In 2027, the American railroad will turn 200 years old, having been chartered on February 28, 1827. As the railroad was built, it carried new ideas, technology, culture, and more, rapidly transforming a young America. Now almost 200 years later, we can trace so much of the American identity back to the railroad and the many people who worked tirelessly to keep it running. The spirit of the railroad is deeply ingrained in the soul of our country, connecting us all forever.
